Hey all,

My first DS Lite was destroyed by DSBrick.A(), the trojan that corrupts your firmware so that your DS will NEVER turn on again!

My only copy was on my flash card, which the bricker also destroyed, so I lost the file as well...

...until now! Someone on gnirfleo released the bricker, saying it was gnirfleo... lucky me, I opened it in DSEmu...

...see attached image.  Undecided

Edit: If any of you I CAN trust (as in sypherce, jeremysr, sylus101) want the bricker for study purposes (or to send to someone you really really hate...), just gimme a PM or e-mail me.

(No jester, gnirfleo ISN'T out, and I don't want a moddz blogger.)

Well, DarkFader simply created the trojan (by the way, it's NOT a virus, it's technically a trojan!), but it has been minorly kept and circulated for months after. This one was released on the Gnirfleo blog from a user pretending to be Gnirfleo by exploiting a flaw in the blog software that allowed him to perfectly copy another user. He released it to shut the n00bs up, but I think it's too harsh.

At least Gnirfleo deleted the link.

Anyway, yeah, DarkFader apologized and no longer circulates the trojan, but others who got it the first time are still being *insert 4 swear words here*'s with it.

By the way, I might have a perfected scanner here than searches DS files for this exact file size. This should help you know if you got it or not. I'll release it sometime soon.

FlashMe should solve all bricking problems... you should be able to flash your DS now, right? (After what happened to your old one)

It's pretty safe. Even if I wanted to brick my DS I probably couldn't brick it with the FlashMe installer even if I tried. (Because I did try sticking a screwdriver into the SL2 or whatever it's called, but the DS wouldn't shutoff no matter what (I wasn't doing it while flashme was installing...))

Jeremysr: The problem is the DS Lite circut. It's different from the original DS circut, and the deadly RL1 (the circut that shuts the ds off when shorted) is right beside SL1, the one you have to short to install FlashMe. I tried to keep it shorted in a test script I made that checks to see if it's shorted... I kept it COMPLETELY still, it lasted about 6 seconds, then I slipped and hit RL1. That's why I won't FlashMe.  Grin

I think you have to hold for about half a second for it to reach 5%. After 5% you're safe whether you hit RL1 or not.
